fashionista

emily attends public school which thankfully has a uniform dress code...it makes it super easy to get dressed and you can tell there isnt that tension of who is wearing what and oh i need that to be cool sort of mentality. growing up next to a really wealthy part of town, i was traumatized (i can honestly say that) by the girls who wore all the newest expensive fashions that i could not afford. i can say that experience colors so much of my parenting style now, i think about those "cool girls" a lot (yes, i may be in need of serious therapy!) i talk to emily about how clothes should be fun and it doesn't matter where they come from (the pants and shirt in this picture came from the thrift store and my DAD bought that skirt for her!! has he got style or what?) the point is that you should never judge a person by what they are wearing. i know this will become a bigger issue as she gets older, but i am trying to plant that little seed now.

after a week of navy and white, i love how emily comes out with such fun and creative ways to dress when she is not going to school. she just jumps right in and comes out in these amazing combinations, her simple response is that they looked nice together or the colors matched.
