thank you gift ready to roll

this goes to a very special person, someone who spent a lot of time with miss liz and who we are missing tons right now! how do you thank someone who took care of your little baby so many days and months and years? i always struggled with having to put my kids in daycare, but both seemed to love it, never a complaint from either ever. i was amazed at how much fun they always had and how they loved their friends and activities. it sure was hard to find this special lady (and her super cool husband) when liz was a baby and it has been super hard to say goodbye, so let's not!

Guerilla Walking

yesterday it rained off and on, in between we did some "practice art" in front of our house. we thought up different slogans and emily came up with the greatest bird ever. i love it in chalk, maybe pastels would have the same effect? i sense a new banner in the making.

today is the official guerilla day, we head of to this (good neighbor party) and then a 2 mile walk around the park (to decorate the bike path with our slogans and art).

Camp Fire Up and Running

Guerilla art 101... we are using the guerilla art suggestions to spread the word on saving the wetlands. we talked about different ways to spread the word (or art, quotes and friendly thoughts) to others using different mediums. i made each girl a guerilla art kit which contained circles to make buttons, small note paper to put notes in library books or pass to friends (hopefully not in class, oops!) and a piece of chalk. i told the girls to use the chalk to write messages to our neighbors about saving the wetlands and put the web address there too. then they need to take a picture of themselves and the location. i am hoping for some creative locations... really get the word out! they are also going to make flyers to put in mailboxes and posters to put up on bulletin boards and street corners. the hands down best part (and the longest activity) was making the buttons, the girls really enjoyed it and made some really neat ones to share with friends and family.

Fires burning

there was a mandatory evacuation for green valley lake yesterday... while i sat in the emergency room with my grandfather my phone rang off the hook with friends worried about my cabin (thanks so much guys!) i just had to hope for the best, my cabin was built in 1961 and there are fires every year (thats more than 45 years of fire seasons)

last night the weather helped and today the news is better, the fire is moving away from gvl, thank goodness! the last few times we were up there it was raining and i thought for sure the fire season was behind us... i think fires are the scariest thing ever. we store a lot of extra furniture (pictures and art projects too) in our cabin but i think the cabin itself is the most valuable thing, vintage coolness i love so much.

my grandpa is fine too, unfortunately they are holding him hostage one more night. he is pretty ticked off at me. i took some photos of his house today (its hard when he is there so i snuck around while he was gone) and will post those soon. it is very cool!
