i have been obsessing over trying to teach my girls, and my camp fire girls, more about painting and art. i stumbled on this book and fell in love with all these projects. i am hoping to pull something together for this coming monday. we are deep into candy sales, today was the first day of selling. at first i was a bit overwhelmed, but after seeing the amount we have to sell, i am just excited to get at it. we have seven days signed up to sell at various banks and supermarkets over the next month. we enjoy passing out avocados to neighbors, something we do almost every evening, so i hope the candy sales will be well received. the girls are super excited, they actually ask to go selling! its good to work hard for something you believe in and this is our way to thank camp fire for all it gives us, to keep it up and running.
this year there was a donation made to pay for the shipping of camp fire candy to iraq for anyone who wants to donate their candy to the soldiers (sometimes people dont want candy, but just want to make a donation). at first i was not sure how it would work, but i really REALLY like this idea now. so much so that i am going to donate at least 20 dollars worth of candy for them. for sure i dont need the candy! the best part is we put stickers on the candy we will send which will have hand written notes from those who donate, if the person doesn't write a note, then the girls will decorate the candy. i am so looking forward to sending that candy off to our troops. it doesn't seem like much, for all they are doing for us.
i painted these rocks and gave each girl in my group one at our first meeting together, i hope they know how special they all are (the girls are special too).
I love the paintings, Leslie.
