off to the mountains

camp wintaka reunion is calling... off to the mountains. not sure when i will be checking in since harry potter comes in the mail while i am gone and i am totally freaked out something exciting will be written about it or come on the news (no news allowed up at the cabin). hope i can get some reading in before any tidbits about the plot escape. i am wierd that way!

finally put a summer owl up in the store, these are selling at a local shop down by the beach, this was the favorite i couldn't part with, oh well, can't keep everything!!

something different

after answering a question on jumilla bugs blog, i thought maybe i would put it here too. made me think a bit about summer and what we have been up to around here:

"what have i done on my summer vacation so far?"

1. more time at the beach

2. made two rounds of seed bombs (with supplies to make a whole lot more!)

3. made several day trips to the mountains without worrying whether it is worth the driving or not (its worth it!)

4. more walking, less driving

5. more play dates, less worry about the messy house

6. less wine, more clear head (ha ha!)

7. less shyness and swimming more, who cares if my figure aint what it used to be, it's hot and the water feels good!

8. ice-cream for dinner

9. splurge on movies at the theater, yes its a rip off but so nice too!

10. let broken cell phone stay broken, i don't need to get that call (or make any for that matter) i'm busy.

more swim than surf

today was day two of surf camp... i came late, spent the morning with lizzie... i guess the girls surfed for a few hours then fizzled out (so i missed the surfing photos). they swam the rest of the day and are still there now (i am on my way to work).

the sun finally came out mid morning, blue skies and warm water... a nice summer day. more camp tomorrow! camp wintaka reunion weekend coming up too, can't wait!

just beachy

had to get some relief from the heat so we headed down to the beach for ice-cream and sunset watching (plus a little dancing to a band that was playing music by the pier).

the water was like a warm bath, chris and i were both amazed at the temp.

how cute is this little metal trash can? it says "please recycle" on the other side with tips on recycling... i hate to admit we had lunch at this place, but this damn thing is actually cool (oh, it came in the kids meal).

heading back, we took the "jungle" route past the tree farm... we made up stories about being lost in the jungle... ever since we saw bridge to terabithia (we are also trying to read it) we have been obsessed with making up adventures when we walk. we are getting pretty good at it too.

we made it back in time to get lizzie and hope our neighbors let us take a swim, we are in great need of cooing down! whew!

My kind of day

work canceled today, oh darn. so emily and i are walking lizzie to her daycare, walking ourselves to our local breakfast shop for scones and bagels (there goes my diet!) and then hiking our way through the park to the local theater to see: HARRY POTTER 5!!!

after the movie we will attempt to walk back to lizzies daycare to pick her up, thats a lot of walking but i need it! surf camp resumes tomorrow.
