just beachy

had to get some relief from the heat so we headed down to the beach for ice-cream and sunset watching (plus a little dancing to a band that was playing music by the pier).

the water was like a warm bath, chris and i were both amazed at the temp.

sunset watching and beach house dreamin' (unfortunately owning a beach house here won't be happening anytime soon, we found one online for just under 10 million!)

walking, walking, walking

green juice: frozen mango, frozen banana, blueberries, spinach, agave for sweetness... ready for our walk

how cute is this little metal trash can? it says "please recycle" on the other side with tips on recycling... i hate to admit we had lunch at this place, but this damn thing is actually cool (oh, it came in the kids meal).

heading back, we took the "jungle" route past the tree farm... we made up stories about being lost in the jungle... ever since we saw bridge to terabithia (we are also trying to read it) we have been obsessed with making up adventures when we walk. we are getting pretty good at it too.

we made it back in time to get lizzie and hope our neighbors let us take a swim, we are in great need of cooing down! whew!

My kind of day

work canceled today, oh darn. so emily and i are walking lizzie to her daycare, walking ourselves to our local breakfast shop for scones and bagels (there goes my diet!) and then hiking our way through the park to the local theater to see: HARRY POTTER 5!!! Smg_orderofthephoenix_posterbig2

after the movie we will attempt to walk back to lizzies daycare to pick her up, thats a lot of walking but i need it! surf camp resumes tomorrow.

i know what these look like now, but these babies were done right! they are gonna make our hillside sing, a blooming batch of gorgeousness, just wait!

Img_6671

did i mention the girls fought the whole way up the mountain, argued, screamed, spit and cussed the entire time we were at the cabin and hollered, yelled and basically freaked out the entire drive home? well, they did. :)

hodge podge blog

so what the heck is going on around here? well, it's been a decade living in this house now and many projects that have been put off are finally getting the attention they deserve. when we first moved in, the entire inside had been painted white which i actually like now. but it has been 10 years and four kids later... (kids are still here but that can't be helped) and to say the paint needs refreshing is an understatement. sooo.... we are beginning in the boys room:

when i first painted this room i was a hardcore martha stewart junkie, i just chose two colors from her new paint line at the time... i couldn't decide on blue or green so used both. remember, the boys were like 4 and 6 years old at the time.... they are 14 and 16 now, time for an update!

we will have to incorporate this cool lamp into the new decor.

since food has been such and issue this summer, we are trying to get dinners more organized. chris taught andrew how to grill and he has been treating everyone to dinner almost every night.

when we cleaned out the boys room to paint, this long lost tent was found. of course it is set up in the living room now, along with boxed up computers. if it isn't one thing it's another, right?

i stumbled onto this yesterday and was so happy to see the "blubird" love being spread, this was the first book i bought on ebay and i use a picture from it for my icon on flickr.

ok, we are off to the cabin for the day... stay tuned for seed bomb updates!
