views beyond the catflap

strange title, but basically this calendar has photos taken only by cats, they secure a camera around the cat's neck and you get a real great idea of their perspective of the world.

check out the website, the calendar sales benefit an animal welfare group in england. i enjoyed reading more about the cats involved in the project, maybe you will like it as well. my cats are pretty lazy but wouldnt it be awesome to see what they do out there all day (and night?) maybe its just me! but i am curious!

2009, 365 day 2

not sure if i can keep this up all year, but we'll see (a photo a day for a year, on flickr if you are following along)

i am diving into my most favorite fabrics, trying to decrease the stash. a friend asked for a baby block with lots of "tabs" since her baby loved the blocks i gave her but was focused mostly on the "chasing bluebirds" tag. ah ha! i decided to make some with this fabulous "new" idea, i loved how they turned out and gave away one to our neighbor with a new baby.

heres a few almost done, waiting to go into the shop. after finishing a few i decided to check out etsy baby blocks, guess what? there are lots of baby blocks with tabs (not a new idea at all, duh!) oh well, i still like the ones i made and if they sell they sell, if not, then i am loaded up with baby gifts for future babies (not my own mind you!!)

minding our beeswax

still working on lizzies  christmas blocks, i have put her to work waxing them herself and they are coming out amazing. i sanded them, put 3 different kinds of oil on them, sanded some more and then broke down and bought a stick of beeswax (which i should have done in the first place). the oil made them smell good and soaked in well, but the beeswax is the bees knees if you ask me.

emily found the friendship bracelet kit mesmerizing, i have to admit i did too. thanks rainee (and katie)

so my new obsession is beeswax and i started making some new baby blocks today (after a friend persuaded me to make her one with a little twist), funny how i am making more baby things now than i ever did when i actually HAD a baby around here. elizabeth is growing up in huge spurts now, today she was telling me a story in long drawn out sentences with a clear point of view, very interesting. she is also busy creating things nonstop, wonder where she gets that from???

emily and i are also starting a new bike riding regime, i finally have the perfect workout partner, full of spunk and willing to go at a moments notice. here's to losing that extra 30 pounds... or maybe 40 if i want to be "skinny" ha ha!!
